The Sriracha Life

Things I can't get enough of: Cameras. Beer. And Sriracha. I LOVE SRIRACHA. When Rogue brewery released the Sriracha Stout late last year, I was like a kid discovering naked people on the internet for the first time - eyes wide open, mouth agape, and desperate to get my hands on it. (ﾉﾟ0ﾟ)ﾉ~ But by that time I tried ordering a bottle for myself, they were out of stock. (╯°□°）╯ So you can imagine how excited I am to have found a bottle at a local liquor store!






A few of the Sriracha themed items I currently own: the sauce, the stout, and Sriracha popcorn.


You may also remember, I dressed up as Sriracha for Halloween last year.

Things that irk me far more than they should

Things that irk me far more than they should: people that get on a busy elevator to go up one floor. I've stopped trying to hide my disdain, instead opting to grunt audibly and impatiently when these people hit the button ONE.FLOOR.UP. Today though, I discovered an even more irritating group of elevator jockeys. As I was rushing to an appointment, I was miffed when two able bodied ladies got on to go DOWN one floor. Are you KIDDING ME?! You won't even walk down a flight of steps?! I checked - they weren't using crutches, limping, or otherwise invalid. They were just FAACKING LAZY.

As I said, 'Things that irk me far more than they should'.

Jet Lag and Photographing the Pupils, part VI

What a beautiful Sunday morning. Warm, sunny, and it's only NINE A.M. What a great way to start my week... Oh what?! Daylight Savings Time?! FAAACK, now I'm going to be jet lagged for like a week!

This is about the only time you'll ever catch me saying, "Boy I wish we were more like Saskatchewan." Saskatchewanianites like to claim the world revolves around them, hence they don't need to change clocks, but I think it's really because deep down, they're all a bunch of simpletons. :) Honestly, how else do you explain this Phenomenon?

Alas, the show must go on. May I present the latest in my ongoing Photographing the Pupils series of portraits. These students graciously agreed to sit for me during our class breaks, over a couple weeks… I love how they turned out.

I had one extra frame left on a roll, so I shot a quick snap of the school's security dude as well.

All photos shot with the Kiev 88CM and Arsat 80mm f/2.8 lens on Kodak T-Max 400. Dev'd in Rodinal 1:25 for 6:30min. This will likely be the last roll I shoot with this camera combo, as it requires some repairs, and I maaaay have added something new to my kit yesterday... :\

The last ten days have involved a strained lower back, some unrelated pinching in my neck, a visit to the doctor, 3 visits to the physio, 1 super painful massage, 1 visit to the chiro, and 8 X-rays. Yeah, it's been a crappy week and a half. But on the positive side, I have these X-rays of my neck and back to share with you. Ooooh... look at that pile of skin and bones.

So before Leonard Nimoy passed away, he was sent to hospital earlier in the week. And this is the conversation I had with Anita about his initial hospitalization.

Me: Leonard Nimoy's in the hospital!
Her: Who?
Me: You know, Spock.
Her: Oh, the pointy ears guy? The bald one? From X-Men?
Me: *double facepalm*

While we're on the topic of sci-fi geekdom, and mixing up various shows, I put together a 3D sheet metal kit of an AT-AT last night. When I told Anita I was making an AT-AT from Star Wars, she was like, "Oh, that short white thing... 3DP2 or something?" hahaha...

I'm usually pretty good with arts and crafts, but this kit was just frustrating as all hell to build, cause the metal bends/ breaks so damn easily (side note: hey look, something more frail than my back!)... The model might look well built in the photos, but is in fact just barely holding together through the magic of duct tape.
